BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — An officer at a Louisiana prison has been arrested amid allegations she had an “unprofessional relationship” with an inmate and smuggled cellphones to another, state officials said Friday.
Iberville Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested Ja’Camry Davis, 22, of Baton Rouge, on one count of malfeasance in office-sexual conduct with an inmate and three counts of introduction of contraband into a penal institution, the state Department of Public Safety and Corrections said in a news release.
Davis worked at the Elayn Hunt Correctional Center and held the rank of master sergeant. During questioning, she admitted to the alleged crimes and resigned the post she had held since August 2022, authorities said.
Another former correctional employee, Arraneisha Valentine, 22, was arrested Wednesday on one count of malfeasance in office-sexual conduct with an inmate, according to Ken Pastorick, a department spokesperson, The Advocate reported. Valentine, whose hometown was not immediately available, has not worked for the department since May, the newspaper said.
Jail records do not indicate whether Davis or Valentine had an attorney who could speak for either of them.
